  • Initial Research

Watch the two You Tube Videos on the right which define the powers of the president according to the Constitution of the United States. Then read this transcript to learn about the qualities that make a president great.

  • Defining the terms

Click on the the link and print your presidential matrix. Then, as a group, list and define 5 qualities which are important for a president to have. The definitions should be as specific as possible.

Click on the appropriate link for your group and then research your presidents. How do they demonstrate your important principals of greatness?

  • Rate The Presidents

Based on your research of each of your presidents, give them a grade indicative of their performance in each of your chosen categories. The grades should be a number between 1 and 5. Again, what is important is that you justify your choice.

  • Do The Math

Average your presidential grades and give each president a final grade. The president with the highest final grade is the president your group will represent in the final debate. Give your results to me to pass on to the class.

  • The Great Debate

Now that each of you know your own and the other candidates, prepare for the great debate. Research the candidates. Know the virtues of your own candidate and the foibles of the other. Visit the links of the other groups and research their candidates. Where did they succeed? Where did they fail. Select a spokesman for your candidate and prepare to vote!
