Where Are We Now?
In this WebQuest, you thought about your opinions of those qualities that make an individual great. In fact, you defined your own vision of greatness and applied it to some of the most famous men in history. It is important that you defined your vision of greatness before you knew who you would be evaluating. All too often, we apply labels without thinking about what those labels actually mean.
Why Is This Important?
Thinking about this empirically, this exercise is incredibly important. You have defined your own vision of greatness and thus, in the future, you can apply these definitions to all you encounter. What is equally important is that you have developed these definitions within a group of your peers without any other outside influence.
How Can I Use This?
In a year or two, you will all be participating in the great democratic process that is an election. You have seen, through your research, that a great many people have suffered and died to preserve your right to take part in this process. As a fledgling voter, you will find yourself bombarded by individuals and organizations all encouraging you to join with them in supporting a particular candidate. After participating in this exercise, you can be confident that you have a personal yardstick by which to measure all candidates for office, and when you draw the curtain at the polls, that certainly helps.
