The Panama Canal

The Panama Canal links the Atlantic and Pacific Oceans through the 50 mile strip of land known as the Isthmus of Panama. It is a highway of commerce which lifts ships a remarkable 85 feet in the air to transport them between oceans. The canal truly is a triumph of human engineering and the desire of man to master his environment.

The Panama Canal Authority runs a website that includes a tremendous amount of information about the canal. Look at the quiz on the right and see if you can find the answers on the site. Then watch the video to travel from the Pacific Ocean to the Atlantic.
